After the joke about sheep with no lips saying Aaaah not Baaah on the NZ Boards twinkle forum I think Nzers should ( try to) understand that The Quran itself ( under the aegis of Arch Angel Gabriel) moves on a step- from sheep ( helpless and lost ones, Good Shepherds,preying wolves in sheeps' clothing etc.)to discussions about the UMMAH ( people/civil society) as cattle... which have horns themselves, as we know, which can hurt!
Need I give instances? So, now you are exposed to possible gouging... well done!
The " simple people" are hurt because the Prophet pbuh born 1400 yrs ago.. expressly asked/commanded... " No 'fixed' images... of me as mere messenger, or God! It prevents the dog running off with a spoon- to shovel excrement.. or the proverbial bone to chew, growl and fight over!
But hey... now you've done it without researching the historical facts and issues, maybe you can learn as you go!

I know these people see their religion is sacrilege but theirs isn't the only one that has been targetted. I think every religion has been the subject of cartoonists, or comedy shows or whatever. Even the pope has been targetted. The outrage shown over the latest lot of cartoons has surprised me, nobody is safe from the satirical society, if you don't agree with the humour then ignore it.

I agree with some of the things that you have said sparkle...up to a point...yes 'no-one is safe from the satirical society' but I dont think anyone has the right to poke fun at anybodies religon...be it Muslim, christain, catholic...Yes peeps do have freedom of speech but where do you draw the line at attacking anyone cos' of their beliefs???
None of those cartoons would have made the press if it wasnt for sept 11.
