Default How to get Banned from NZD in 2 steps

Thought I might post this here for you information:
On the 21/7/05 I started a thread on NZD naming the persons with name supression for drug crimes as Frank Tarkerton and Cathy Lee Crosby.
My posting rights were revoked. I emailed webby to ask why?
    He sent this reply.
    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
    Thanks for the feedback,
    a) We reserve the right to take whatever action we consider required to
protect the site and our members.
    b) Name supression is not a joke, its a serious issue that has cost NZDating
a number of hours in the last few days, we have no idea who is or is not
involved and will not tolerate speculation joke or not.
    c) Reviewing your thread, the messageboard access removal was for fairly
light abuse which on discussion we probably would have allowed you future
access. Unfortunately your actions pre-empted any reasonable discussion.
    d) Administrator abuse is not acceptable and as a non paying member you are
a guest of our website paid for with our money. We do reserve the right to
remove your membership and abuse of our site or administrators is not
    acceptable behaviour.
You made the decision to make light of something that is currently a serious
misuse issue on NZDating and took the associated risks.
You then made the decision to respond with abuse removing any real option to
    resolve the original issue.
Sorry but we just don't have time for nonsense.
    NZDating
    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
    I replied
    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
    (a) I challange you demonstrate the abuse that I supposively committed. If you can't your descision is based on bias and is without merit there fore you are acting outside the laws and regulations of NZD.
    (b) I did not name anyone who presently has there name supressed by the NZ Court System therefore your actions and punishment are without merit.
    (c) You mean I called you a fool. So in retaliation you removed my account.
Your pathetic and gutless. A child by all accounts.
    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
    To which webby responded
    To: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Please consider this official notification that you are banned from using
the NZDating website for abusive behaviour.
Any further use will be considered trespass and criminal unauthorised access
    of our computer systems.
Any further illegal accounts will be be billed at $200 + gst for cleanup and
complaints will be laid with your ISP and if required the police.
    NZDating
    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
In summary I got banned and trespassed because I started a piss take thread on NZD and called the webby a fool.
For the Record WEBBY you are a fool!!!!!!!!!

Ahh yes. The old piss-take thread.

You have to remember, in order to appreciate humour, a certain level of intelligence is required.

In saying that, I would have to take action against any thread that actually breached a supression order.

Sheesh. How totally boring they must want their site running to be. The occasional scandal is fun!

It just abuse of power in its true form. Granted my piss take back fired I mean not everyone knows that Cathy-Lee and Fran Tarkerton hosted a 80's programe called "Thats Incredible" obviously the webadmin didn't either.

I thought he could have handled been called a fool after he had removed my posting privilages.

I was wrong. Luckily my Gold Membership has expired. I've since found other interesting sites to haunt now.

    Sounds typical of that site.

You're much better off without it.

I've never seen so many people without any sense of humour whatsoever. Quite scary really

    Now be fair.

It's not that they don't have a sense of humour - it's just that it's fine tuned to allow them to turn repugnantly self-righteous at any time. This helps them maintain an illusion that they have some control over their lives and actually matter to anyone else in the world.

NZD is no different from datefinder, findsomeone or any of the other idiot dating sites. They're mostly home to everyone who is a failure at finding a partner in the normal ways, and these people resent anyone on the site who isn't there for their daily hit of internet-support-group dramatics.

Deep down inside they know that people who don't give a shit are inherently more attractive. They don't take into account that we'd never want the trogs they were after anyway.

(No offence to our Trogg, who is a gentleman.)

Humour is relative to the mood of the persons invovled on that site.

What is funny to some ain't funny to others and vs verser.

Its also used as a quick "escape" out when things turn to custard. "I was only joking...." or thats not funny thats offensive!!!!!!! "runs and tellls webby"

What fustrates the hell out of me is the lack of consistancy in webby's application of rules and policy.
Some get away with blue murder whilst others are banned at the slightest trivial in-fraction.

Some abusive message threads are allowed to blossum and grow. Whilst others are removed almost as soon as they are created. There seems no logic to it. Abeit the abusive threads that remain usually consist of long time members or supposive highly regarded members.

I think your spot on with "turn repugnantly self-righteous" its the flip-flopping between extremes that amazes me. No consistancy at all.

The mind games and psycho analysis, psychology and reverse psychcology confound me as its not necessary.
I kind of agree in part with what your saying about the raw reality of sites like NZD and the like. Because quite frankily I my self are a complete failure at finding a partner I'm 34 and have failed on all accounts.

I had been invovled with NZD for about a year off and on. Most recently off.

I went to around 10 events in total and it seemed like the same old fat ugly mugs attending time and time again. Just wanting to shack up for the night or trade gossip and get plastered. Very cliquey and exclusive I found some people to be practically un-approachable.

I did meet a few nice people and they are now friends.

Remember, of course, that 'Webby' is much like our own 'Weebley'.. an account used by administrators to hide their true identities.

    Whoops. Did I say that?

So anyway, sometimes a different person will be controlling the Webby account, thats why it seems so inconsistant.

You need to know me better before you can make that assumption dude.

As for the topic of this thread... lets just say that this isn't the first time that I have heard of the NZD "webby" cracking a peanut with a sledgehammer.

In my opinion message board management (and this doesn't just mean NZD if you are reading this Chris) is about looking at the situation and dealing with it in a fair and reasonable manner and NOT making rash actions in haste. Also management need to have the balls to stand by their decisions and not let back members that have previously been given long term bans for past discressions.

Sure this place doesn't have the number of members (and therefore it's percentage of shit stirrers) of other NZ message boards but I have to say that the core management here usually seem to act thinking when any actions have been taken (I personally know of the behind the scenes conversations that go on before some actions are taken).
So a big to those who apply logic to decisions on the message boards out there and are prepared to stand behind them rather than threatening legal action.

I will finish with this riddle: How long is a life ban?
Last edited by trogg; 27-Jul-2005 at 12:09 AM.
"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand, strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming "WOO-HOO What a ride!"

(For amusement, next time you get an error message on NZB, if there are any 'Click here for more info' links, have a lookie...it used to display the email addresses of the people who receive those errors. )

Thats the NetBios name who knows what it stands for but I'd have a guess at it being:

    Windows NT Chris Workstation 4

The internal IP was supplied also, so if I felt suitably vindictive I could spend some time working my way onto/into that network.

I dunno about this really, here's the thing, they banned you for a stated reason.

It doesn't matter how petty that reason is - you can't fight it. They have every right to block/ban you. The fact is - when you signed up, they made you tick a box under the assumption you had read their TOU.

Under their Terms, as with most sites - they can make a judgement call and not have to tell you ANYTHING about it. They didn't have to reply in any manner to you at ALL.

Besides, who cares? You paid them for the privilege to entertain the masses. You paid membership to OTHER people to make THEIR site interesting.

    Seems completely fucked.

What you have there, is merely an addiction that you're trying to justify.

My two cents, and I don't care what you think.

    1. It doesn't matter what you do, just do it with style
    2. Your whinging has already let the entire board know what kind of dippy little dresswearers you are
    3. You bravely responded to a thread that has been inactive for nearly a year.
That last one means you're on my ground, stinking up my archives with unwanted opinions facilitated by item 2 whilst being totally ignorant of item 1. Suck it in ladies.
Meh, I don't give a stuff, I needed to do two posts and that was one of them...

He had a valid point, I was allowed to agree, my perogative....

So what if the thread is a year old, didn't realise there were time limits on them....

Is that really in reply to my post where I make an oblique reference to Dakie?

(And... how did you manage to quote nih before his post? MAGIC MAN!!)
