    Default Fricken Trademe

I'm a big fan of this site, I have both sold and bought things without any hassle so far. It's been great.

    Now it's not so great.

It seems that trademe spends more time being unavailable than it is available, and if it's unavailable then that means people can't bid on my auctions, but is trademe offering refunds to those people who haven't sold their goods due to their down time? Of course not!

ARGH ... trademe ARE getting greedy in my opinion ... their fees seem to be increasing but so far I'm not seeing a huge improvement made.

It's certainly frustrating when you've got auctions you're bidding on and not being able to get in to see what's happening. GRRRRRR

Are there lots of conversations like this on their boards?

The reason I ask is that places like Ebay tend to delete such threads.

Site availability is a major headache at times...I should know.

I would assume that the trademe techs run around swearing and pulling their hair out when it goes down..I know I do.

It has probably gotten to the point where they need a server upgrade.

I started a thread over there but nobody has replied to it yet. Maybe it was just a few people that it affected because it looks like people have been posting to threads at the same time I couldn't get in.

    Ah well.

Yeah...but that would be like what happened to NZB yesterday...the server had reashed maximum connections (in our case, it was because some dickhead who lives on the same server as us was doing something retarded) ... so new connections get refused.

Wow... what a positive first post from a new member.
I hope you haven't started the way you intend to continue on here because that sort of negativity isn't productive.

    Several things:

Trademe are not responsible for your connectivity issues. They have a 99.999blahblah% uptime record. Particularly ganking is that your parents can get through, and you still want to complain to trademe. Sort out your own connection.

Secondly, even your ISP can't guarantee connectivity to the net. Things and routers out of their control go down all the time, affecting some people while not affecting others.

Users would do well to learn this. I'm tired myself of explaining to clients that just because they can see one website and not mine doesn't mean it's my fault, or that their connectivity to the net is representative of their clients' connectivity.

    Fricken trademe again.

Bought a breadmaker for $40 (including postage) and it arrived absolutely filthy, so I give the outside a clean and then look inside and it's completely rusty.

It's obviously not been used for a VERY long time.

Asked the seller for a refund and they responded back that it just needed a clean and will work okay.

Looks like this one is going to be a messy one.

    *sigh*

I have bought some great things for fabulous prices off trademe - it's a shame there are some people out there who are quite happy to rip other people off.

Rather than chucking it in the bin could you send it back to the seller with postage due?
And was the feedback you posted "appropriately" worded, ie polite swearing?

I'm still battling it out with the person to see if they will refund my money. I've offered to send the breadmaker back to them in exchange for a full refund.

    I haven't posted feedback yet.

If I don't hear from them again I will be letting them know that a red face will be appearing soon if I don't get a response.

It really gets up my goat that there are a few people on there spoiling it for others.

    Fricken bastard arsehole bastards

Sellers response to my extremely polite email asking for a refund is:

    Its not worth it

Postage was actually $20! and I only charged you $10.
    Just clean it up.

    --------

I've replied back explaining even if I clean it up I still can't use it as it is full of rust! Bread and rust are not a good mix.

    Fucking arsehole bastard arsehole twat-hole

I've replied back again very politely saying if they don't refund I will be placing a red face. I guess I can kiss goodbye to my $40.00

    It's not rusty Bro,
That's the delux version that is used to make brown bread, hence the brown colour it's not rust it's a special teflon coating to add texture to your bread.

Still no response from arsehole fuckface trader.

Have sent numerous emails to him asking for a refund.

I now have to work out what I'm going to write to accompany the red face I give him.

It does sound really bad to me.
I would imagine that trademe get a heap of this sort of thing going on, I just wonder what they intend on doing about it.
I thought they had safe traders and things like that?

If his email address is from a specific domain then let me know if it's NZ based and I will drop the domain from my search engine index, I don't really wish to bring the guy more business if he trades like that.

    Finally a response:

"If you return the breadmaker I will refund you $30"

He has such a way with words. Problem is I paid him $40 (this included $10 postage) and it will cost $10 to post back to him which means I'm out of pocket $20 ... this doesn't seem fair to me because arsehole sold me something which doesn't work and was NOT what he advertised in his auction. Why should I be out of pocket?

I've given him a couple of options so hopefully he'll come back to me with a positive response. It won't stop me from placing a red face anyway though coz no matter what it still looks like I'm going to be out of pocket.

Oh ... he's at an xtra email address

I agree some things can be really finnicky, I setup my GF's ADSL link yesterday and thought I'd install an extra tool for her and the darn thing wouldn't reach the outside world (she went "Blah blah blah ADSL is ment to be better this is worse")

then it turns out even though she hadn't loaded Zone Alarm its settings were still blocking ports in the TCP/IP stack fire up Zone Alarm and it pops the box and permission given and HEY PRESTO
