Topic: What do YOU think of bare feet?

I live in Auckland (I'm 19 and born and raised) and recently decided to head down to the shops for a few things (about a 10-15 min walk). It was early in the morning and I decided to go in my shorts and bare feet.

When I finally got there, some lady said to me 'nice to see ya keepin it kiwi'. I smiled and thought to myself what could have she possibly ment? Then I though, 'the bare feet'.

Is it really a kiwi thing to go walk the streets bare foot? What do you think of bare feet in public? Would you rather wear Jandals or go barefoot?

I think its cool. and whatever its only the shops. My husbadn gets all werid when I go in my painting clothes, or in my slippers but whatever. I have seen people in the shops in their dressing gowns.

Bare feet are cool, sensual

Its good to go bare foot at the beach, around home, but to go to the shops etc. shoes or sandals.

I quite enjoy barefeet, but just recently I found that sometimes, it's really not a good idea. ._. I borrowed a pair of my mum's flats, which I thought would be fine to pad around the supermarket in. They were, but I hadn't accounted for the fact that I had to walk home. Being me, this means walking pretty darned quickly. They rubbed at the backs of my heels, causing a slight burn. This was causing quite a bit of pain, so in my brilliance, I took them off and walked home mostly barefoot. The reason this was a bad thing, was that it was VERY hot (in Southern Ontario, our climate is actually quite temperate, so when it's cold, it's wet cold, and when it's hot, ouch!) and by the time I got home, I had managed to actually burn the bottoms of my feet! So...while I believe there's nothing quite like sinking your bare tootsies into a nice lush lawn, or mucking about your own neighbourhood, sometimes, it's not the way to go. (Sorry about the ramble!) ._.

Thinking about this though, in Canada, you actually cannot go into a shop anywhere with bare feet, we have signs all over saying "No shoes, No shirt, No service". In fact, a lot of people look at me funny for walking around my neighbourhood without shoes. =( I suppose that makes me an odd duck in my own country. It's a bit sad, but North America sometimes has that big "please don't litigate" stick up it's bum. I think in the cool of the morn, I'd be quite happy to sneak out in bare feet.

Recently my sandals ditched me in the market area. Amidst of all the crowd, i walked bare footed to my home. It was bit awe for people staring at me.But i enjoyed the walk.Walking on grass bare footed, is another thing that i enjoy the most.

I love feet very much. I think barefoot girls are sexy. I love walking barefoot, I go every where I can barefoot. I always go shopping barefoot any place that I can.

love my bare feet my shoes and often socks if i had any on to start with are off with in minutes of being in the door lol

Call me old-fashioned, but there's a time and a place for everything. Bare feet are fine if you're swimming or sunning yourself in the backyard, but walking on public footpaths? Nope, not for me. As a teenager I thought it was cool to go bare footed, but came quite seriously unstuck a few times. Once I stood on a burning cigarette butt that some creep had kindly dropped on the footpath and in the good old days when milk was delivered in bottles to the gate, I got a very large shard of glass in my heel. I didn't know that the 'milky' had dropped and broken a bottle on our concrete path. That took a lot of probing (painful) to find the bits left behind in my foot, not to mention the doses of antibiotics. I keep my feet well-shod these days.

Hi, Im new to this board, but love being barefoot. Mother of two young children living in Auckland. New Zealand is very barefoot friendly which is great, not like America which sems paranoid about being barefoot and standing on dog sh#t etc. I go barefoot everywhere I can, shopping, movies, restaurants. My children and husband are keen barefooters too which is great! Weather here is getting warm so its excellent for barefooting, went to the garden centre last weekend with hubby and kids, wore my bikini top, jean shorts and barefeet, and it felt so neat! Once a neighbour told me off for being at the supermarket in barefeet, said I might get glass in my feet = told him to mind his own bloody business! I had never got glass in my feet before. My kids love the freedom of doing whatever they want, anywhere and going barefoot all the time.

NZ is such a great little country without all the controls of other countries. I have many friends who love being barefoot, so we meet up for coffee at a shopping centre all barefoot, its fantastic!
