    Default Venus visable

This is from one of the NASA links I am on.

Space Weather News for June 4, 2004
    http://spaceweather.com

VENUS TRANSIT: On June 8th, for the first time since 1882, Venus will pass directly between Earth and the Sun. The planet's black silhouette will be visible from Australia, Asia, Africa, Europe and eastern parts of the Americas. Visit Spaceweather.com for observing tips and links to live webcasts from around the world.

SPACE STATION TRANSIT: Transits of Venus are rare, but this is
unprecedented: The International Space Station (ISS) is going to cross the Sun four times during the 6+ hour transit of Venus on June 8th. Advanced observers in parts of Europe, Africa and Asia might be able to record the double transit. Get the details at Spaceweather.com.

The mention of Australia is why I posted it. But I am not savvy enough to know the times.

I absolutely love the science of all of this! I wish I was able to afford a Telescope so I could learn more about this excellent subject.

There are a lot of things here: http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/

The picture changes daily. And not all are black and white. In fact, there is this wonderful pink cluster that I am using for a screen background.

There are lots and lots of links from the APOD

We don't get to see much of the sky coz are living in the city and the lights dull out the stars.

I'm up on a farm at the moment so would like it if the weather decides to play ball (is windy and absolutely frozen here at the moment) so I can do a bit of stargazing.

You can't be that far from civilization if Internet access has reached you.

Ah the joys of working for a mobile phone company that has introduced wireless internet access. YAY GPRS!

We aren't that far from civilization (about 20 mins from the nearest town) and there aren't many others out here. About 6 houses on the one road (all owned by my family)

    Is inbreeding a problem?

    *shakes fist at Darkling*

You need to travel further down the country; ie Gore in the South Island, to come across inbreeding issues.

    Quick answer... NO

Longer explanation... (from what I remember hearing on the car radio news) New Zealand will not be able to see it as the transisiton across the sun is after sunset local time.
Oz, because they are about 2 - 4 hours behind us, will be able to get a view though.

I hope I got that right
