Topic: So your boss says curtly...

I just offered my boss my opinion on an e-mail he sent, and he couldn't find anything wrong with opinion to argue with so he curtly says "Thank you for your feedback".

Did he really appreciate it? and is just pissed off he couldn't argue with it so he was right and I was wrong?

Or he didn't appreciate me telling him my opinion about it?

Man I don't know, he kinda looked annoyed afterwards.... he doesn't like to given in at all usually...

Some bosses don't like being disagreed with.

This one certianly doesn't, I tend to forget that sometimes.

I think he has now... he just made a joke about it, but I was just worried cos I like to keep people happy

That's almost exactly what I write when someone offers me a suggestion that I don't even want to bother to respond to, but courtesy dictates that I do.

Except for me it's in the context of running a website, and I say "Thanks for your input."

Also remember that i general there are only 3 guidelines to this:

1. People don't like any opinion that disagrees with their views, especially an unsolicited one, and especially one stated as an opinion (which is a safe way to say something that effectively prevents the other party from rebutting because as you said, it *is* a personal opinion.

2. When people say they *are* looking for your opinion, they don't mean they're looking for one; they're actually looking for affirmation.

3. Refer to 1 & 2 above.
