I recently copped 18 mnths Intensive Supervision for pot.The cops came round to my house with a search warrant on nothing more than suspicion.I knew that what I was doing was an offence and took that all into consideration when I first got started two and a half years ago,telling my friend that I was only doing it until the cops came round to take it all off me,when they did,which is just what they did,when they did.
The courts and that down here are the toughest in the country on drink and drugs charges and have just spent a cool $2 million of the taxpayers money this year by putting on an extra storey and refurbishment of the Invercargill courthouse.The extra storey has a stairwell and a luxury steel finshed lift installed that will probably only ever be used by the Invercargill court staff.
They've also landscaped it with designer patterned brickwork in the forecourt which also has these 6-7 posts with wires coming out of the top of them,which are going to have lamps or some such installed,just so they can light it up at night and showcase it and why not you should ask,because after all is said and done the Invercargill courthouse are (today) definitely the biggest money earner in town right now,with the nicest looking building,apart from the Prison,which now ranks as a close second place.
The 2 local judges have pretty much turned locking people up into a flourishing industry and what hypocrites they are for looking down their noses at us beneficiaries for having our one hand out for a handout,when all along they've got both of their own hands out for the same handouts but just quite a lot more of it.
Hasn't John Key just recently been asking his fellow MP's to cut down on their expenditure or something?
But it's not JUST this that I'm complaining about.No!
It's the fact that here in Invercargill they have these double standards wherein their own Mayor admits to smoking pot in the 1970's and according to some,probably still does,but they've never been around to HIS house with a search warrant,or for that matter,ever put a tap on HIS phone.
The fact is that because he doesn't grow it (although that's only an assumption) that implies that he supports those who DO grow it,which makes him guilty by association right?And not only is he not the only one doing it,but everyone here knows who all of the others are,including the Invercargill Police,who themselves,have relatives in their own families who do it,cousins and brothers ('cuzzies and bro's') and the like and maybe a bit more so if they're of maori descent,with aunties and uncles et al.
A friend reckons I should keep mum about the mayors' pot smoking,but when it comes down to it,what has the mayor ever done for me (that he deserves my protection) but put my rates up and given me parking tickets.
Oh,sorry for my being a bit slow here,where we're all supposed to be a bit backward anyway,but does that mean that if I run for and get elected Mayor that I'll suddenly become exempt from prosecution and will be able to smoke all the pot I want?So long as it's yours of course?
I've worked for several business people here who've paid me with a bag of pot,including a doctor.It's called bartering and which is still a way of life.
It's not just the fact that I've been put on someone's hit list,but it's how they decide who they're going to put on it,that really gets to me.
I recently put together a 5 paged complaint about the way we are treated down here and sent it off to 118 members of privillege (sorry) Parliament,hopefully meaning that it's going to pretty hard to hide it when everyone's got their own copy.It was also a bit of an experiment to see just how Honourable the Honourables really are and with only 20 odd responses so far,maybe it's really just another fancy title they've given themselves eh?
So I'm left with a bit of a dilemna in deciding whether I'm doing the right thing by speaking out,or the wrong thing by telling you.
Constructive criticism is welcomed,but if you are just another one of those,with no friends,who only has something nasty to say,under a made-up name,then let me tell you,do yourself a favour and don't bother.
