    Question Google+ vs. Facebook?

So how many of you already test run it? Looks like a hybrid of Facebook and Twitter. No? Then... ? What are your thoughts about this new social network Google+ ?

I'm going to spend some time (worth it? We shall see ) on this Google + and see whats on the next menu. So far there are quite a lot which I really liked about. The "edit"button with the permissions-based system for sharing another gotta be the dragging different people into social circles is ridiculously addictive...

I was lucky enough to get an invite.. but as yet, my Circles are pretty limited.

Kind of like Facebook with no friends.

I actually also send you an invite but I believe google must have hold it due to the fact that the registration coming in from the "invites" given out has exceeded their capacity.

Anyway, here you got me. Feel free to add me to your circles

Well it seems I might be forced to try Google+, that's if anybody invites me or however you get into it, as it seems I've just been booted out of FB. After an awful internet experience, I refuse to use my real name anywhere online. I've been on FB for quite sometime, but tonight I sent a private message to somebody else in a group I belonged to, explaining why I used an alias in FB. You thought your FB messages were private? Forget it. Half an hour later I tried to log back in and had a security screen thrown at me, insisting I provide my cellphone number to verify my ID. Geez, I might have been trying to impersonate Julia Gillard! When I said I didn't have a cellphone, my next choice was to provide government issued ID. What???? I don't live in $#@! America! So, I thought, to hell with FB. There's no way I'm going on there with my real name OR providing my date of birth OR cellphone number. FB was useful to me for certain medical groups I was in, so that is a pain, but I just don't think I want to relinquish private details about myself to some faceless entity. They talk about security etc, but I don't feel secure if I have to divulge personal details about myself anywhere online. You're all probably much younger than I am, but I ain't changing my ways for FB.

G+ has a 'Real Name' rule as well, I'm afraid.

I might have had that issue you mention (my name being Ace, after all) but I am a Facebook 'developer' (I register apps that allow me to add FB Connect features to my sites), I had to provide my cellphone number at that point.

You're not facing a "Real name" issue. The actual fact as of why FB was requesting you to identify yourself was due to the the fact that you are trying to impersonate a government official. Not to say the least, impersonating any person or entity, including but not limited to, any other users or otherwise misrepresenting your identity or affiliation in any way is something not allowed in my own forum. Imagine you yourself trying to impersonate the Prime minister of Australia -what could you have expect? lol

I must prefer the facebook layout to be honest. Plus its hard to use google+ since all my friends and family are on facebook.

It will be hard for anyone to ever compete with facebook as they have all the user base. To get people to bother to move elsewhere will be really hard. When its a free service.
Only way someone can beat facebook is if facebook stuffs up by changing too much or putting to much ads on it.
