Topic: The easiest way to find a present for someone - but does it work?

Gift cards. Yep, gift cards and gift vouchers - no need to spend ages thinking about what to get someone, just walk into a store and ask for a gift card.
But does it actually work, does it look like a good present? Who here thinks it's a good gift, and who thinks it isnt? I've got a couple of people that I don't really know what to get, and I'm thinking of just buying the gift vouchers, but do people actually enjoy receiving them??

Hi, I personally can't stand them and would prefer to get nothing, but they do seem to be popular and a good idea if you feel the need to give to people you don't know well. Kristina

We try and steer away from gift cards in our family for Christmas but they are a good fall-back option if we really just don't know what to get.
Sometimes a card is better - spa vouchers or treatments are always best as a voucher as the recipient knows what they want... otherwise Westfield ones or Visa Prezzy cards are awesome as they don't restrict you to one place and can be used so widely!

Gift vouchers are the sort of thing I'd give someone for free as a gift of friendship when I just feel like being charitable, or to someone I don't know very well - If you're going give a present, it should have some meaning.

Giving gift cards just seems so impersonal.
