Topic: arghhhhhhh I have my performance review

I really didn't need this today after the weekend I just had!

We have these every quarter and they determine how much of our bonus entilment we get for this quarter.

I might not have meet a few of my objectives... all due to things out of my control... it is so annoying...

*considers mentioning reaching 1000 posts on NZB as a milestone to add to it*

My boss didn't have time to give me a performance review before being paid my bonus so it got paid anyway

Oh yay...

well it turned out OK. I get 8.1 out of a possible 10... which means I get my bonus. Thank goodness for doing the one that had the most weighting *really* well!

Look on the positive side Penny... at least your review was just that and you didn't have to reapply for your own job (complete with a cover letter displaying examples of how you fill seven points of competence on what they think the job requires PLUS writing a new CV because your previous one was eight years out of date).
AND then the buggers have the gall to offer me exactly the same money as my previous contract that was due for a pay review in the next couple of months.

Awww Troggle that is true! I just had memories of my last review in my head. But I think my new boss was trying to prove he was boss to me, becuase last time on all of my objectives that were worth any decent percentage, I scored really high, and then he got to business as usual its wirht only 10% for that quarter and he went on and on and on about wanting specific examples of where I had excelled in this area, and he drove me barmy, becuae I had done well, and I didn't really care by then what I got, I just turned around at the end and told him just to give me whatever score he felt I had earnt for it, and said lets get on with the rest of this.

I think it sucks what your company are doing to you. They should atleast offer you a bit more with it. You would have thought they would have just to make you feel a bit better about the whole thing anyway.

Sadly, my company is doing the exact same thing to our guys at the moment Trogg.

It's not a very nice environment to be in right now ...

seesm like the "in" thing to do at the moment, I have heard of allot of people having to go through it. I am glad they haven't decided to do that here... yet.

Is it a loop hole in the law a way to get around redundancy?

Something like that yeah. Also an easier way of getting rid of people who aren't performing or who they just want to see leave (whether it be because of bad attitude, whatever).

It's awful to know that some of these people are going to lose their jobs and yet you can't tell them ...

Have they already decided who's not going to get the jobs before they have even gone through the reapplication process??

Sometimes those things can be a blessing in disguise for people, force them to get out and do something else.
