Topic: Rugby - Loathe it or love it?

Okay, so here's the question.
Do you love it (Like my partner, bless his soul)
or do you find it a waste of time and pointless and would rather go to bed with a good book (like me?)

What say you, good folk of NZB?

I dig a good game. Yes indeed.

I love it. Don't understand it, but love it.

The best game in the world!!

And seeing that the All Blacks trashed the Lions and the Springboks slaughtered the French, I love it even more!!!

I sort of like it. I tend to watch the big games just because I feel I should, and to be honest, generally I enjoy watching it. I prefer watching League just because I find the game to be more enjoyable to watch.

When it comes to Provincial rugby though I definitely feel no desire whatsoever to see one of those games. Definitely in bed with a book is my preference.

I grew up with a rugby mad father and brother so I think a lot of my dislike is pychological. My brother used to read out rugby scores from his DB Rugby Annual any time he was near me and it would drive me nuts.

Love it! never miss an AB game, NPC can be boring as can Super 12 but as a sport? A good meat pie and a beer is enough to sway me to a game.

Love it, though don't quite understand it. Coming from a rugby lovers background, and a small town, there is not that much else to do, but to have an excuse to watch rugby on Saturday, and not forgetting the cheap bar also.

I must admit i do like rugby union especially when it comes to the six nations with all those grudge matches, bring it on

dont love it, dont hate it..have no real feelings towards it!

I loathe it, but its my son's sport of choice... so I watch the games he's playing in to support him.

Love it - Specially the AB's beating the Aussies, Joking. I used to go to as many Super 12 Games I could - but these days have to be content with what I get on tele. I also enjoy most sports, and like to support all "Kiwi" Sport. Wasn't that last game between the AB's & the other team a nail biter.

We are brought up with soccer and cycling here in Belgium , but i find any sport ok , will learn to love rugby .

It's nothing more than ritualized Gladiators , which is nothing more than ritualized war.

there are serious issues facing this country every day , and our highly paid and under worked leaders waste millions our money on yet more stadiums to pander to this 'game' instead of getting us a reliable power grid, or usable public transport.

It seriously pisses me off!

when I was a lad, i used to watch local teams hammering it out on a field and it actually meant something to me because i knew the people playing and I could cheer coz someone I knew played well wether he was on 'my' side or not.
these regional or national teams we have now mean nothing to me. they are strangers playing coz they get payed lots of money to do so.

what does that have to do with me?

I reckon Give each team a ball of their own and they wouldn't have to squabble over the bloody thing !

I think you have to embrace the sport of New Zealand.

It is part of our culture and heritage.

So therefore IMHO it is a big LOVE IT

Rugby is probably the most logical sport on the earth. You can do anything (well, almost) to get the ball over the try line, which you can't when playing that inferior game... What was the name of it...? "Football"...? Yeah, that's the name of it.

You people down there don't know how lucky you are with such a great rugby league as the Super 14... Rugby is a wonderful game, and I wish it was as big here in Sweden as it is in New Zealand.

By the way, does anybody know where I could get in touch with some Highlanders fans? I'd be really happy if someone equipped with some technologial stuff to capture the games of the Highlanders from the TV and transferring them to the computer (and then to little me).

I use to hate the sport but i am slowly becoming a fan of it, i have always been a big football fan but now i can see the enjoyment in the game..... and oh yer the men look good in the kit too...lol ..... joking (sexist i know)

Rugby (Union) is great but Rugby League is far greater
