We got a fishtank on Saturday. Set it up, filled it up, added random bottles of chemicals to kill the bad stuff in the shitty water we are forced to use...and looked at it. No fish. :(

Sunday, I went out and got 10 neon tetras and a bunch of plants. Popped them into the tank (after letting them acclimatise for hours), and watched.

They were relatively happy, until this morning, when one was throwing itself into the filter intake (a-la nemo), and another was .. sleeping in the bushes.

Cleaned them out, and the remaining 8 seem happy enough.

1. Turning keys. Seems simple enough, but when you can only put the required amount of torque in by putting the wounded area on the metal, it's not.

2. Showering. Keeping a thumb dry might sound easy, but involves plastic bags and holding an arm above the shower the entire time.

3. Shaving. As per Showering, but with the additional factor of being concerned about slicing more body parts off.

4. Rolling a ciggy. Not fun. Fingertips are getting good at it.

5. Lighting a lighter. Have had to alternate between left-handed and using my middle finger.

6. Typing. Yes. This is a bastard.

Things that are easier with a bandage on your thumb:
(OK, that's now the Ace smiley.)

What fun. Upgrading Sparkle Hosting to vB4 seemed simple enough, there weren't a lot of mods running, nothing that couldn't be replaced..

Until I remembered the CMPS.. after doing the upgrade. Now, I hadn't upgraded this license yet, and had missed the pre-sale, so the option of getting the new vB4 CMS was a $250 one. A bit pricey, when I did have the option of just cobbling together a static page.

Using http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=228112 and http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=226914 , I made a very simple static page.

I will update it. :)

So I got a letter from the IRD today.

Unusually, it was not them asking for money!

It all began 2 weeks ago.... *swirly effect*

I was sitting at my desk at work thinking 'Man! I have been paying off that Student Loan for ages!', so I called IRD to ask.

After about 10 minutes of trying to navigate InfoExpress (never use this. It is far from express.), I managed to get a human being, who, after asking me various questions about my Study History, advised my loan was paid, and that I was entitled to a refund.

This would be paid to my bank account within a week or so. Yay!

Now, I get the letter showing the balance.. it was substantial.

At the bottom of the page was a statement: 'IMPORTANT - An interest rate of 6.90% will apply to Student Loan balances.'

After calling the IRD to enquire why my interest was only $0.01CR, I was advised that this only applied to DEBIT loan balances.

Hmm.. doesn't say that anywhere... and why was it that I had to chase them to find out if I had paid my loan off and when to stop deductions?

You haven't heard the last of this. ;)

I think it was Voltaren..

I have a very sore neck, probably related to the 2 hours I spent in a dental chair yesterday.

First dentist said I needed urgent work done. His receptionist took my $72 for X-rays and told me my urgent work could be done in 2 weeks.

I walked out with the xrays and found another dentist, one who could do the work then and there.

Hurrah!

Now, pain is blissfully receeding.

I have accomplished the first three.
