    Default Swearing

I watched a bit of that documentary on telly about swearing and was thinking what I find acceptable and what I find offensive and why.

Apprentley 76% of us NZers find the use of the word Cunt unacceptable(according to the broadcasting standards research), I must say I probably startle a wee bit when people use it, but I think that is only becuase I am not used to it.

It was interesting seeing them compare the different points of view, this women who didn't find anything acceptable pretty much (My flatmate says she would be a "bother" lady) and ranging to people who find any swearing pretty much acceptable.

So whats your view on swearing?

    It's acceptable in certain circumstances.

For example: it is perfectly okay for me to call John Banks a motherfucking cocksucker on here, because that's what he is, and this is NZB...but if I walk into the supermarket and call out to the deli staff 'Oi, lazy fuck! Serve me!' it would be considered inappropriate.

I don't mnid swearing ... I work in an office with highly stressed hard working men ... and I probably curse more than they do sometimes!

But then I'm not easily offended anyway.

I did have a rethink about my use of offensive language when I heard by niece (who was 4 at the time) call someone a fucking bitch. Apparently she learned that particular phrase from her mother. I am extremely careful around my nieces now.

Yeah you have to be so careful around kids. My boss was moaning about his son just learning to talk, and they came up to traffic lights that went orange, and his son sat there going "Fuck fuck fuck" until the light went green. I just asked him where he thought the kid learnt it from. My boss has the foulest mouth I have ever heard.
