The currency exchange with everyone else is a bit harsh for those us addicted to online shopping. Public transport is non-existent outside of the major centres (and not so great there either, judging from other posts).

My husband and I are also looking into moving to NZ in about 4 years. I enjoy reading all the comments so far, thank you all very much.
Another question, what is the general viewpoint on immigrants, especially Americans? Some have voiced their opinion about the US, but do those negative feelings carry over to those that choose to move from the US? My husband would be interacting with many people on a daily basis (medical field). If many people are negative, it would impact our decision on what country to move to.
Thanks again!

Hey there,
In my experience, people are far more likely to say something on a messageboard about a generalisation, than to say the same thing to an individual sitting in front of them, especially if that individual was someone trying to help them, health-wise.
2 of my doctors growing up were from Seattle. My chiropractor was from NY. I've had no problems dealing with American healthcare providers.![]()
Thanks Kall, I appreciate it.
My husband will be a chiropractor in a few years. Looking forward to visiting and possibly moving!
New Zealand is quite a small country and it can get boring here
Drawbacks of NZ, in simple terms
1. As agreed with Casper, it gets boring in a small country.
2. House prices, renting prices are huge. Half your salary will be gone already.
3. Petty crime (such as vehicle thefts) will annoy the shit out of you, plus - the Police will never investigate it properly. In fact, they fall short of everything here
4. The Governments corrupt. GOOD luck in winning any case against them.
i thought nz is one of the least corrupt countries in the world comparing to my countries malaysia.
