In the year 2010, do we need to be hanging onto the signing of a document in the late 1800s?

The debate is happening over whether to change the NZ flag to something more 'relevant' in these new times.. Maori want it to be changed to reflect the changing face of the country.. but would they put the same logic to changing the name of the day?
