Default NZ Election 2005 - Waiting for a Result

The results available on Election Night put the two major parties almost dead even with labour having a single percentage point more than national.

New Zealand First and the Greens have 5 or 6 seats each, with a few others making up the mix.

Now we have to wait for the 20,000-odd Special Votes to be counted.

What do you think of the result? What would you like to see the special votes result be?

I would like to see the special votes confirm the Green percentage and perhaps even give them another seat in parliament.
For overall running of the country I would like Labour, Jim Anderton and the Greens to come to some sort of agreement as we know that they can work together and have similar goals whereas the parties to the Right have not worked together recently and we could end up in a huge mess.

One thing I do read from the results of this election is that a large portion of this country are tired of Helen Clark's and Labour's previous actions without full consultation AND implementation of the public's wishes.
For example, what happened to the referendum to reduce the number of MPs down to 99? It looks like we are up to 122 after this election and I think it is extremely deceitful to add these extra two seats when the taxpayers obviously are not prepared to pay for them.
Also other issues like allowing Genetic Engineering experiments outside the lab, inaction over Law & Order and bulldozing marriage reforms though have alienated voters.

Lets hope that Labour moderates it's views in order to work with other Left leaning parties to continue to build a country that is worth living in and representative of the wishes of most New Zealanders and that the Right leaning parties stay out of office so they can not sell off any remaining assets and widen the gap between have and have-nots (thus increasing the crime rate as the have-nots resort to theft to put food in the mouths of their children).
"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand, strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming "WOO-HOO What a ride!"

    I think he'll do a good job.

It might shake things up a little bit in the overseas dealings.

I think the world is getting a little too P.C.

We need something to stir thinks up a little.

After all Don Brash made some immigration remarks in many of his speeches, didn't seem to stop him getting half the country to back him up.

Perhaps we have the lesser of the two evils.
