    Question Lifestyle choice???

Listening to the radio this morning, new report says that abortion rates have gone up considerably in the past few years. More and more women are chosing abortions as a lifestyle choice. Gone are the days where abortions were performed as a last resort in difficult circumstances, now women, more career women too, are choosing this as a method of contraception.

I suppose we can only put forward our views as one would have to be in this unenviable situation to really understand the emotions that would decide one way or the other.

I don't condone or condemn anyone's actions as it is a personal choice, just interested to see how others feel.
    Have a nICE day!

I think anyone who has actually had an abortion would not be able to think of ever having one again. Not only does it hurt physically but also emotionally. I struggle to understand what sort of person would choose abortion over contraception.

Taking the pill or any other sort of contraception is absolutely the better option than having an abortion.

Women would be stupid to think otherwise.

    Sparkle, I totally agree.

This subject is one that is close to my heart, and why I will never regret having a termination when I did, I also have made it painfully clear I would never do it again. Ever.

I was sick / had been sick when my partner and I conceived. We had been together a grand total of 4 months and it was the last thing in the world we wanted to deal with.

I could not face the local anasthetic, and cried through the whole councelling session they put you through when you decide that it is what you want to do. The father is present every step of the way, and 'expected' to be. After deciding to go through with the procedure we kept the 'remains', which we later buried on my parent's property.

We use contaception, we are careful - it was an accident, not like the woman who was in at the same time as me - it was her 7th. To me, that is abuse of the system, and herself.

Now my partner and I are older, wiser and still together. We have a home together, and we have no debt (Except our mortgage!). At this point I believe we are not quite ready for children yet, but it would not be the end of the world if I fell pregnant again... and a pregnancy would not end in termination. (Not that I'm planning to in the near future!)

Hey there ICEMAN long time no hear, What a topic ABORTION?
The only women who should be allowed to get an abortion are those that
got raped, this is a situation where the rights of the women was not heard
other than that, we are all so well educated these days in ways of contraceptives there is just no room for excuses.
It's like waking up oneday and saying to yourself " Oh i feel like making a baby
then when the poor little seed has taken hold, you decide oh hell i dont feel like having a baby now" Man ask yourself.
CONTRACEPTIVES,,,,,,,,,,CONTRACEPTIVES or better still abstain from sex
untill you can make the right decision.

Busyness ... contraception doesn't always work. It is not 100% effective.

If you were put in the position whereby you were the 1% of the population that your contraception didn't work for what would you do? It's hardly your fault and it wasn't a conscious decision to "make a baby".

I think it's a woman's right to choose - when going through the termination process you are assessed by both doctors and therapists before you are given the okay to go through with it.

I can't believe that a woman would EVER want to go through it twice.

Even if you were 14, and there was a damned good chance that not only your life, but that of the child, would be ended if the pregnancy was allowed to come to term?

    Really? Wow.

Why do you say it like that Busyness? Are you saying you don't think girls of 14 can get pregnant? You may want to take your head out of the sand. I had a friend who at 13 got pregnant and had to have an abortion. There was absolutely no way she could go through with the pregnancy ... firstly, she was far too young to deal with it and secondly the father was a family member.

If you were going to be having your Uncle's baby at the age of 13 would you still keep it?
