To be honest - and speaking passionately as Wanganui/Whanganui was where I was born and raised - even when I was a kid this arguement was going on - people who wanted to spell the word Wanganui wrote it like that, those who wanted Whanganui wrote it like it.

I really don't see why this has continued to come about - in my opinion, and that is all I am sharing, I respect the local IWI etc however New Zealand has changed over the last 170 odd years it is now a diplomatic country - well it is meant to be and therefore when the referrendum happened what came out on top should be what is instated.

It's just like when voting for a new Prime Minister - we cant vote in Keys and then get given someone else this should be the same thing.

This is just my opinion as I have said - I have tried to have logical discussions elsewhere and it all turns into a race thing, it has become full with racism etc and I am not racist I completely respect the history of New Zealand this was just my opinion and I hope people don't see it as me trying to be racist etc I am just sharing my thoughts that New Zealand is a diplomatic country and I think the thing that is annoying people most is the fact that we all voted and then they ignore it to do what they want anyway.

Lol... you poor thing, its not about diplomacy and NZ is not a diplomatic country. NZ is in the hands of ignorant greedy people that has no self worth or pride. They rely solely on their personal wealth and power. Different strokes for different folks.

Its not about whether there should be an "H" in Wanganui, or changing the name of the north and the south. What is shows is that there are still some deep rooted racist people in NZ. I laugh, because any issue that Maori raise, out come the moans and groans.

Lol - and it's whenever a white person disagrees we get called racist.

It's not about the maori at all, it's like the old saying why fix something that isn't broken - the written language wasn't there and it was the white european settlers who wanted to introduce a written language for other settlers so there is no wrong spelling. Amazing it took one post for this to turn into a personal attack.

The H shouldn't be there at all - thats what people voted thats what it should stay.
