An Auckland man has eaten KFC every day for the past 12 years in what has become a $300 a week habit.
Bronson Hohaia, 20, eats only the skin of the fast food and in the past three years has also started to eat fish batter.
Apart from the "odd corn chips", he refuses to eat anything other than fast food leaving his worried parents Charles and Irene desperate to find help for their son.
Irene told TV ONE'S Close Up tonight she feels terrible that her son is "not getting the nourishment that you're enjoying".
However, she said if he was not given KFC he would not eat anything else.
She said when her son was born he had a lack of oxygen "which created cerebral palsy for him".
"He's developmentally delayed. So he's 20-years-old but probably functioning at a two to three-year-old's level.
"He has autistic like tendencies in his behaviour - what he does and doesn't like."
Bronson eats the batter of a minimum of eight fish each morning and the skin of at least ten pieces of KFC for dinner.
"You know too if you don't offer him that and he didn't even have that option he wouldn't be eating at all and he wouldn't be around much longer."
Charles said "it's sort of like you've got no option, no choice".
For a long time Charles and Irene tried to eat the chicken left behind by their son.
"But you imagine eating chicken for 12 years and trying all sorts of ways to eat it," Charles said.
"In fact, we'd even, believe it or not, put some of it out to the cats and now even the cats have turned their noses up at the chicken."
