Topic: Roast Chicken with Vegetables

Tonight's dinner brought to you in association with NZ Idol - Butchering songs since 2004.

1 size 18 Chicken
4 Potatoes
1 Kumara (sweet potato)
1 large Carrot
garlic paste
herbs to season.

Preheat oven to 180C/350F, clean chicken.
Cut holes in skin and push garlic paste in under skin.
Put in oven dish and season chicken liberally.
Put in Oven.

Wait half an hour.

Turn chicken over.

Peel vegetables. Chop into pieces. Lightly coat in olive oil. Season. Place around chicken. Place tray back in oven.

Wait one hour.

Turn chicken.

Wait until you can't wait any more. (maybe another 20 mins).

It was dang tasty too

Oh that sounds so yummy, we are going to my mother in laws tonight for roast chicken, and I bet it wont be anything like that.

over cooks steak. We usually stop for Maccers on the way home cause we are still hungry.

She made a potato bake one time and wanted to make a crunch topping so she put potato chips on top and all it did was turn the chips soggy.
Her peas are so over cooked that they look like the surprise peas before you put them in the pot.

In mid America, I have seen potato chips used for crust.

Not a taste I like but I have seen it done where it was edible. Once out of five times maybe.

We have a sizing system here in kiwiland that is based on the average weight the chook.

A size 18 is approximately 1.8kg (about 3.9lb), with the range being 1.7 to 1.9kg

Thus size 16 is 1.5 to 1.7kg and size 20 is 1.9 to 2.1kg

well and I just thought the poeple that made(I think I mean processed there!) the chickens just gave it a number! hahaha

So a chook is a chicken and the size 16, 18 is like a weight.
