| Hello to the other side.We are a hard working couple who will soon have some free time on our hands. We want to visit New Zealand and see it as working class people. We are avid fishermen, not for sport but for food.We would like to rent a modest house away from the city and close to the water. We won't need to make money but we don't want to sit and vegetate either. We have a large variety of work skills,(horse shoer, certified pest control operator, massage therapist, musician and artist).Do you feel that we would be welcome? Hope to hear from you soon. | Hi there, The immigration site should be helpful in answering a lot of your questions. Hope it helps. www.immigration.govt.nz | ||||

The Americans I have met have generally felt very welcome in NZ and found the people generous and accommodating. The general feeling, from a political perspective, may be quite different. My take on it is that our fortunes are tied to the States but we don't like Bush and we don't like alot of what goes on - but it's the best there is so we have to go with it. So, as far as being welcomed in the communities you visit and your skills being utilised (quite hard to get a farrier these days I gather) you should have no problems. Just make sure the paperwork is in order before you arrive. | ||||

| Thankyou for your reply, We are not happy with the government here either.I could go into depressing detail and all of those are reasons to leave here.Thankyou for your encouragement. Zia | ||||

| If you like fishing then you will love the Bay of Islands. I grew up in the area and our family had a boat. We spent many weekends and holidays cruising the Bay and catching fish (not sure how many are left up there now though due to excessivly greedy people). Try googling for Paihia New Zealand and you should find some info. | ||||
