You need to not use the Quick Reply at the bottom of a thread, rather use the Quote or Reply buttons.

On those screens you will see the smiley box to the side of the posting window...with a 'more smileys' link (or similar) under it.

*edit* Obviusly, typing the bbcode for a smiley will work anywhere...you just have to learn them.

Ok gotcha...not normally a forum user so this is a bit new to me. need more coffee

The smileys are pretty easy to use once you get to know them

You can usually get a hint as to what the code for a smiley is when you see it by putting your pointer over it for a while and noting down what comes up.

It *should* be the thing to type between : : ... in lowercase tho. Some of them seem to be capitalised.
