Hello all!!!!
Found this page searching for info on papers needed to get married!!!
But all this is putting us off.... I am Spanish, my partner is a Kiwi and we have decided to go a step further!!!!
The problem: It is taking us ages to find all the papers he needs to get married in Spain. Any one there has been (or knows someone)thru the same process?
I have contacted the Kiwi Embassy in Spain, The High COmmission in UK (He has been in the UK for the last 6 years), the The Internal affairs organisation in NZ, etc, etc, etc.... None of them can issue a certificate stating he has been in the UK for the last 2 years.
Any one can help? I am starting to think I will have to convince him that it will be much easier to move to NZ!!!!

I wouldn't have a clue when it comes to Spanish law, so would have to go for the 'easier to move to NZ' thing.

I don't have a clue when it comes to the Kiwi law either... Maybe is more complicated over there? Considering we are thinking of settling down in Spain.....

Well, we don't even have a date!! We can't have it untill we give in all these papers.. papers that no one seems to issue!!!

Bit no rush... as we say, tomorrow will be done... and tomorrow never arrives!!! ;-)

One thought, if your fiance has been in the UK for a while was he a UK tax payer? If so he might be able to use documentation from that to prove UK residency? Just a thought

Hi Nas.

Tried that already, it doesn't help... We need an official document, and nor the Inland Revenue or teh High Commission issues that. But what I have found out, is that he can write an statutory declaration, go to the High Commission, sign it in front of them, and he will get the piece of paper stamped. And only at the price of £17.00!!(Around NZ$44 I reckon). Plus the hassle of going to Central London, not getting paid that time(he gets paid by the hour) and then we will have to pay more to get it translated into Spanish...... And still more documents to come, this is just the first one....This world is just getting crazy. What I mean is, so many things being unfairly given away (eg, houses, benefits, etc) and all the charges you have to pay just for mere papers!!!
