Woop! Paid my Loan!!

So I got a letter from the IRD today.
Unusually, it was not them asking for money!
It all began 2 weeks ago.... *swirly effect*
I was sitting at my desk at work thinking 'Man! I have been paying off that Student Loan for ages!', so I called IRD to ask.
After about 10 minutes of trying to navigate InfoExpress (never use this. It is far from express.), I managed to get a human being, who, after asking me various questions about my Study History, advised my loan was paid, and that I was entitled to a refund.
This would be paid to my bank account within a week or so. Yay!
Now, I get the letter showing the balance.. it was substantial.
At the bottom of the page was a statement: 'IMPORTANT - An interest rate of 6.90% will apply to Student Loan balances.'
After calling the IRD to enquire why my interest was only $0.01CR, I was advised that this only applied to DEBIT loan balances.
Hmm.. doesn't say that anywhere... and why was it that I had to chase them to find out if I had paid my loan off and when to stop deductions?
You haven't heard the last of this.
