 Parliament passes bill validating election spending Parliament has passed legislation to validate the unlawful use of Parliamentary funding by political parties for electioneering. Voting was 61 to 50 for the bill, which retrospectively approves Parliamentary spending dating from 1989. The Speaker will report to the House on Thursday on which political parties intend repaying their share of $1,173,598 identified by the Auditor-General as misspent Parliamentary funds at the 2005 election.
