New Zealand Stocks Gain (AP via Yahoo! Finance)

New Zealand stocks gained Monday on news that Contact Energy plans to merge with its Australian parent company. The benchmark NZSX-50 index closed up 36.7 points, or 1.1 percent, at 3,369.96.
