| I've researched new zealand and found alot of good things but also researched to find bad things about it, because i wanted to get both views of the country. So i wanted to know if there is anything bad about the country? what are the drawbacks? Thanks | ||||

| Slow broadband. Virtual monopoly on telecomunications by Telecom. | ||||
| ||||
| Expensive Mobile and Internet Use ![]() | ||||

| Well the drawbacks are the incredible slowness of what we experience as the Internet. 2K of data can take ten minutes to travel 60k to another server if you are connected with XTRA bloadblund (Broard band).. In my search engines the Kiwi's get results upto sixty percent slower that users from the USA. XTRA have a team of support personel who will one day learn to speak english and then they may get an idea of how the web works. I called once and explained that the header code of my quasi pitched webspider was being stopped from indexing websites stored within the Xtra hosting. The person who answered the phone said "Blu wint ta registler um domin num do you?" When I said "No that not why I called" she replied well try and call a again and see if your understood!" I have seen quicker dialup in outer banglarduffy which is a small mud hut in Africa. | ||||

| besides internet service what would be some drawbacks? Is the government harsh or would you say its laid back? Is it true there are hardly any mosquitos? How about flies? What other biting insects would you consider annoying? Things like that, thanks alot. | ||||
| ||||
| The government is a bit pansy-arsed (in my opinion) and tend to bow to some of the minority groups in NZ, which is fine if you're a foreigner coz you won't be bothered by it. There aren't too many biting insects that will harm you, just annoy you, we do have mozzies and flies and fleas and other nasties but they're not going to kill you, unlike many biting nasties in Australia for instance. We have MAJOR traffic issues in Auckland city and our public transport is pretty much non existent. We do have busses and trains but neither are overly reliable. House prices all over the country are pretty horrendous if you want to live in city centres. Apart from that this country is pretty gosh-darned wonderful ![]() | ||||
| ||||
the health system ....... ( is there one!) | ||||
| ||||
| Is it true that n.z. doesn't have any predatorial animals? And can you swim any any river or lake and not worry about getting bit or eaten by an animal? | ||||
| ||||
| That's pretty much true. We have 2 poisonous spiders. One lives at the beach. I have never ever seen one. The other is the White Tail. They are literally EVERYWHERE... but I have never been bitten by one. Other than that, only in the zoo. NO SNAKES! NO SCORPIONS! The eels might try to take a toe if they are reeeeeealy hungry, but I am guessing you mean snakes. ![]() | ||||

| the once safe little nook of the world (apart from the gang and alcohol violence) has turned into a giant fast food megaplex, has imported of the lowest migrants that they could get (serbians, sikhs, assorted muslims ,asian crime gangs etc etc) a large proportion of kiwi males have complex's ,staggering about calling each other "bro" or Cuz" and accusing all and sundry of "staring at them" more than normal amount of under 20 year old males that are prone to driving cheap jap imported 4 cylinder cars blasting bass heavy, failed euro dj's attempts at music, out of them. | ||||

| Yessssssssss. | ||||
| ||||
| And the price of petrol, lack of public transport ... the price of public transport !! all in all though .. NZ is still awesome to live in ![]() | ||||
| ||||
| all in all nz is just like any other country, but in smaller population, which makes it better | ||||
| ||||
| Not forgetting that it is so far away from anywhere else in the world. | ||||
| ||||
| being far way from everyone else is a major plus for me. as for internet that isn't a big problem for me either as i'll be enjoying the outdoors. Petrol is very high in everywhere I think. New zealand sounds so great. I also like how New zealand doesn't just let anyone in like the USA.. Here in the usa they don't care, but new zealand you have to pass certain requirements and aplaud new zealand for that. Thanks for the post they were very helpful. ![]() | ||||
| ||||
| hope it works out for you if you make it here | ||||
| ||||
| The two main drawbacks would be that the place is overrun by New Zealanders and the other one being a geographical problem in that the country is too close to Australia. Is it possible for Helen Clark to arrange the islands be towed a few thousand kilometres East? Surely it would make the swim to Bondi that much harder. | ||||
| ||||
| A mate of mine would also like to point out a few more drawbacks: "White men can't get into the All Blacks any more. Humiliated by Australians every Commonwealth Games. Still waiting for first female Prime Minister." | ||||
