| Soooo your on holiday in one of the tsunami hit areas and it hits, you can see the locals looking after all the tourists when they have lost their own families, doing the clean up, you were lucky enough to escape unhurt... what do you do? Do you get on with it and help out the locals with the clean up? Or do you continue with your holiday as if nothing had happened while the clean up goes on? I was a wee bit disapointed to read in the paper that people have contuinued with their holiday as if nothing had even happened, while I sit here wishing there was something more that I could do to help. | ||||

| I'd get off my lazy ass and help humanity!! I can't believe there are some out there just hanging out on the beach with their cocktail pretending nothing 's going on pffff ![]() | ||||

| Some people are just like that. Others go to extraordinary lengths to help other people. This applies to the locals too - note reports of rape and child kidnap. | ||||

| I'd help for as long as I could and then I'd be returning home as fast as I could to my family. I certainly wouldn't be sitting there surrounded by debris and the occasional dead body sipping a cocktail. | ||||

| I wonder if it could be some sort of coping mechanism to continue as if nothing has happened. If so,I would hate to be around these people when they are in the 'safety' of their own homes and their minds are able to relax enough for the true horror of the situation they survived to be processed. Stress can do funny / weird things to the mind and the mind's way of dealing with it is to bury it until the immediate danger has passed and deal with it later. Either way, I also thought it was strange to see the photo in the newspaper of the tourists in deck chairs will all the destruction in the background. | ||||

| yeah, I just couldn't do it. I know people have been saying "the areas need the tourisim if they are going to live so its good they are still doing it" but when the clean up is still going on?? I don't know I just couldn't do it. I would think the quicker it gets cleaned up the quicker new tourists can start going there and stuff. | ||||
