Last month, as Capill was leaving the Christchurch District Court, he was punched in the face twice and knocked to the ground by Daniel McNally. Capill's lawyer, Jonathon Eaton, jumped in and pulled McNally off Capill, who lay on the ground sobbing.
Mr Capill pleaded guilty today to Indecently Assaulting an 8 year old girl in 2001. The victim told Police that Mr Capill assaulted her on 4 occasions.
Recently, Mr Capill worked as a Police Prosecutor, previously (as the leader of the Christian Heritage Party) he was a strong Christian Values campaigner, vocal against condoms in schools (saying it was "the worst case of child abuse") and the legalisation of Prostitution. He also called for an R18 label to be placed on the Bible, as the 'morally corrupt book could be read by children".
The leader of the Christian Heritage party, Ewan McQueen, says he is deeply shocked by Capill's admission of indecently assaulting a child. McQueen says Capill's shameful actions were destructive to the victim and also brought reproach on the party and the wider Christian community.
