I was walking home the other day. It was very windy.

I saw a council worker on the footpath and wondered what he was doing.

He had a leaf blower.

He was blowing the leaves off the footpath.

The wind was blowing them back on the footpath.

I mean, seriously ... is this what my tax dollars are paying for?

That stuff really annoys me too,

It the old, Its Tuesday, on Tuesday I do this because that is what I am paid to do, no matter how stupid it is.

Nuts, and a total waste of money.

My particular hate is busses which throw off their passengers half way round the route because the driver has finished his shift. He then drives the empty bus round the rest of the route and back to the depot.

Never try to catch a bus in London at shift change time, way to frustrating.

Its worse when the bus driver decides he wants to do the route his own way, not the way he's supposed to... and then gets shitty at you if you want to get off at your stop, not the one he wants to drop you off at.


Guess I shouldn't complain, I am practically the last stop...

I have seen very few pointless jobs in my time, but I think the leafblower takes the cake. Maybe, next time someone should offer him the use of one of those big gardening bags that you stuff leaves and sticks and stuff into?
Most of the pointless jobs I see are those in a position that they are meant to be doing something, but for some reason or another they don't. So they get payed to sit there, do nothing but because nothing changes / goes wrong (re, they arn't doing anything to induce problems) they get the kudos while the people in the supporting role to theirs work their butts off fixing issues.
