| I read in the paper today, that after yesterdays article that a millionaire living in Remuera cant get broadband she has been swamped with telco's willing to fix her woes. I can't get broadband where I live.. and I don't see anyone trying to go out of their way to help me out! *grumble* I was also reading Telecoms stats on how many people can't get broadband and its bollocks. It claims that there is only 843 people in Auckland and greater auckland who can't have it.. I cant, and live at house number 989 on the road.. no one on that road or in the suburb that has a couple of thousand can get it. I doubt if I contacted the herald no one would want to write an article about me and my communication problems.. ![]() | ||||

| I dunno.. that sounds like something that either the Herald or Mr Cambell would be keen to feature. Give it a go.. collect signatures or something. Telecom will fold. They can't afford the negative publicity at the moment. | ||||

| Power to the people! I'll sign your petition! | ||||

| Unfortunately when you are associated with big business in the case of the lady millionaire, the back door network will get things done. You are right though it does stink | ||||
| ||||
| Rather than a petition, go collect names of people in your street who will join a broadband provider in return for free installaion to their home. Then take your list to the Telcos and ask them to bid to supply your group. Wave money under their nose... It works like smelling salts | ||||

| A lovely young man knocked on our door this week trying to "win back" any Telecom business they may have lost. He asked if we had broadband, I gave him an incredulous "You're not trying to sell broadband round here are you?" and he replied that it "has been a long day" but he'd learnt alot that his bosses obviously didn't feel it was necessary to teach a sales guy. I think he must have knocked on the doors of all the Pt Chev BIC members, a group angry that internet access is on a go slow or simply not available! | ||||

| money will move the people to do things. telecom is a corp bussiness and is evil for making no compition in the market. | ||||

| It's nearly a year since my last post in this thread but the other day I was walking the kids home from school and had to navigate past some workmen digging a large hole in our new pavements. They were having a lovely day in the sun and were unusually amiable - and remarked that the work they were doing was to put decent broadband into Pt Chevalier. They got a great response from us! Funnily enough, the broadband boxes are at the end of the road where one of the Telecom bigwigs lives ![]() | ||||
