Default Man who killed his baby cleared

http://www.stuff.co.nz/stuff/0,2106,3101394a10,00.html

Thats the article. Read it and tell me what you think.

I am in two minds, on the one side I was glad that he was cleared as it must have been very very difficult to live with and the child pretty much wasn't living, to me you can't even compare this child with a "normal" child, let alone a child that is handicapped or brain damaged. But the other side of me goes "it was a living creature" but then we put down lambs, sheep, cows, and other animals for less injuries.

What are your thoughts?

Yeah Darkles he already is, they were on the radio today going on about how it is a child and stuff, but I think the are loosing sight of how brain damaged the child was.

I sympathise with the father.

A very emotional issue really. Would I have been able to do that? Probably not. He'll have to live with what he's done forever.

I understand the people when they talk about the fact that he killed a living thing, but really - was the child really going to be considered living?

I usually have little trouble forming an opinion on subjects like this, but for the life of me I can't with this case.

But all I can think of is how lucky I am with my little ones and that I didn't have to sit in judgement of the poor dude and his situation.

I hope that I never am faced with that situation. I am glad that he isn't convicted, and as Sparkly Gal says he will have to live with it forever. I do hope also that everyone can keep their opinions to themselves about it, as its over now, and he and his family need to get on with their lives. In fact they probably have only just started grieving.

There are bound to be some nuts out there who won't see it as being over until he's dead.
