I frequent a few forums on the web...this is probably obvious. In doing so, I am exposed to many people's opinions and ideas and other bits of information from them.

Some people posess the ability to post messages that are thought-provoking and insightful. These messages are a joy to read, because the majority of them are spelt correctly and follow basic english grammar rules.

Unfortunately, there is the other side of Forum usage, something I like to call 'Wading thru the syphiltic discharge of the retards'.

These people will post nothing of any actual sense, and will punctuate every second line (if not every single one) with something like "lol", or "lol lol" or "lmao".

• Firstly, laughing at your own jokes is considered the behaviour of a tosser in real life. It is no different on the internet.
  
• Secondly, the number of things that actually make a person laugh out loud are not quite that frequent...unless you are some kind of giggling idiot.
  
• Thirdly, to type it twice just makes you look like a complete fuckwit. "laugh out loud laugh out loud"? What?
  
• Fourthly, if the amount of times someone laugh my ass off was actually accurate, there would be a hell of a lot more proctologists in the world.

Next week we will harass people who post in ALL CAPS and if we have time, The Strange People Who Have To Capitalise Every Word They Write.

I can't stand it when people use that. What ever happened to haha? or heh heh heh or hardieharhar? When I first started using the messageboards I had absolutely no idea what LOL or LMAO or any of those meant and felt like a right noddy asking people. When I found out I couldn't believe it really - are people that lame that they have to write LOL when they want to say they find something really funny?

Well for me it was something I was introduced to way back when I first started using the net, and I just thought it made sense, I think the thing is not to punctuate everything with lol, like a full stop, just when something is funny.

The only time I've found it amusing is when we set up http://philip.is.sux.z0r.com/ and put 'lol @ philip' in the middle of the page.

I miss z0r.com And I never should have let p1mp.com lapse.

Why not (as Miss Sparkle puts it so well) "haha" or "heh"...or, on the really rare occasions that something *actually* does make you laugh out loud, "man that was funny, it made me laugh out loud!"

If it were to be spelled out each time, people would notice how bloody stupid it looks, but to them it is a lazy way of punctuating sentences.

I personally find haha much easier to type ... but then I am a touch typist.

Now you guys are just being silly, I can touch type to, its not that hard to do. lol is right next to each other. I personally don't see the difference between lol and haha, they look just as dumb as each other. I think its just up to peoples own personal use, if they would rather use lol then use lol, if you want to go haha the use haha. AND if you don't like letting people know you think what they have written is funny then don't use the internet at all, just ring people up and laugh in their ear.

Yikes Penny ... as I say in all my posts it is just MY personal opinion.

Besides, I think that some of these websites are mostly to blame because they don't have decent smileys to express themselves.
