| was just curious really.. about life.. what people think about it.. purpose.. meaning.. etc.. hmm.. the poll is a bit awkward because 3 separate issues of mental and physical as well as pain.. but that's maybe the order I would view them in.. are of course many other complex levels between.. biggest omission is coma state.. and people that remain that way for years.. I think a lot of people that need constant care have concerns of their burden to society and the friends/family that have to care for them.. ? .. but how many people quite happily spend hours with inanimate objects.. looking after and caring for it.. cars!? etc... What does life mean.. if you keep a loved one alive.. and it's only their body that is living then what does that represent, if you keep them alive in your memory of them is their physical being important.. sure in 'life' to be able to touch someone is important.. but as an addition to your knowing of a person that you carry with you.. When people die, the idea of funerals and some people's elaborate requests of burial place.. and ceremony, some people obviously care much about what happens to them after their death as their physical body being more then a carrier for their consciousness.. .. then the afterlife! .. reincarnation.. heaven/hell .. ghosts/spirits.. erm... yeah.. so back to my question what does life mean for you? what makes it so great.. what do you live for.. what gets you up in the morning | ||||

| I'm not sure I'd want to live in any of those conditons. but death scares me as well.. I guess I think while a person is still breathing - There is always hope ![]() | ||||

| Woah. Deep. I went for PVS...dunno why really...definitely not Stephen Hawkins level. Maybe the one under that. I think the poll needs to be multi-choice...some people may wish to die under multiple conditions. | ||||

| I borrowed this poll from somewhere else and I'm not sure what I would choose either. I guess I should have said above that this isn't my own work. Thought I'd start a post that might get people thinking rather than just asking what someone's favourite breakfast cereal is! | ||||

| WOW what a subject for one so young, death is part of living and no i would not like to live i any of those states, but is it right to choose, we die but the hurt and sorrow we leave behind, | ||||

| What happened to the 'All of the above except the physical & mental one..' box? Coming from a background of seeing my Dad 'live' in constant pain for the last 25 years has taught me that no matter how bad things seem when I'm having a downer... there is always someone worse off. I love him with my whole heart and wish there was something I could do to ease his pain for the rest of his natural life... ...and I also look at the other options in your poll and see that although his pain is not something I would wish on anyone, I would probably choose to 'wish to die' for all of them except that one. I am a strong supporter of euthenasia, but then am grateful beyond words I have not had to go through anything remotely like my Dad... Life is precious. Live it while you can, any way you can. | ||||
