Some-one I know has to do a presentation on peoples views on the serious issue of euthanasia.

I was wondering if you could post your views in order to help her with her research?

I know this is a tough subject guys!

Any views will be appreciated!

Thanx!

I think we've talked about this topic before ... you may want to take a look in this forum somewhere ... ummmm about that woman they ended up switching off in the US?

You might find some info there.

Hey iceman, this subject has been around for ever, my opinion is for what its worth,
The immediate family has to make that decision as a whole, there cannot be a split, also
if there is no hope at all, people need to weigh up the pros and cons of the continuing care that is needed, who or how are they going to work this out. It is very easy for anyone to say
we will look after our loved one, but one cannot see how long this can go on. My husband
died of cancer and i must say now if i could have i would have opted for euthanasia, because of the way he died and the emotional stress on myself and 3 children he lingered
for 6 months getting worse evry day, he was bedridden the whole time, a big thing is
he was a proud man and having his arse wiped by us was not nice he cried evry time.
The long haul view is,
How long has the person got?
Is he bedridden?
does he need medical attention, which i suppose he does?
Is the family going to take him home or leave him in the care of others?
In our case iceman we took him home, when he needed morphine a nurse visited evry day
otherwise we tended to his evry need.
Hope this helped or did i just confuse you once again, will wait for your reply.
I could go on and on if you want , so i would opt for EUTHANASIA.

I too would opt for euthanasia. I can think of lots of candidates, although we'd have to remove the whole voluntary bit.

A lot of people are afraid of dying. Facing that fear can really help. Personally experiencing euthanasia first-hand is the best way to overcome that fear. Nobodys afraid of it when they've done it at least once.

It Should Be Up To You I Have Told My Family That If I Am Ever In A Situation Where I Can't Do Anything For Myself I Want To Be Helped To Die. You Should Have To Fill Something Out On Your Drivers Licence

It should be up to the person that is going to die. I think the family should know about this persons wishes, so at the end there would be little or no confusion about the matter.

Lightbulb Re: Euthanasia

In The Netherlands, you can ask for euthanasia. There is a law. But you need two doctors, to help you in the proces... It's not that easy... It's take's some time........ The proces is very long. If the doctors think, it's reasonable to think that it's not going to be better any more.. For example with cancer. Than you can have euthanasia....
