Default Do you know what RACISM means?

In the The Dictionary, RACISM means
1, A belief or doctrine that inherent differences amongst the various human races, usually involving the idea that one's own race is superior and has the right to rule or enforce that belief on others.
2, Hatred or Intolerance of other races.

So therefore how come whenever Maori has done something wrong it leads back to Racism when they either get off/ or has in the case of the King twins spoil it for all other Maori, out of this scenario please tell me what is your opinion of RACISM.

Default Re: Do you know what RACISM means?

I'll take a stab at this..

1. Inherent differences DO exist between races.

ie: Caucasians have less melanin in their skin than Polynesians, leading to the first group becoming sunburnt more easily than the second.

Polynesians are more succeptible to various forms of disease, such as Heart Disease/Attack and Obesity... the list goes on.

2. For many years now, the NZ Labour Party has pandered to the Maori, giving Handouts and Scholarships and lower Entry Criteria to university courses, Free Land (Treaty Claims anyone? Land that was basic and un-improved upon in 1880 is given back in the 21st century, complete with Development and Improvement.), free this, subsidised that... the list goes on and on and on.

Hmm.. seems almost like.. the Government is favouring one race over another, giving things to people who are Maori, and not giving them to those who are not. What do we call that class?

"Racism, Mr Kall!"

That's Right!

"That sucks!!"

I agree. So, there you have it. My opinion of Racism.

(Oh, it also sucks when people can MURDER their children and get off without Jail time, simply because their Whanau can gather around them in a cone of silence. "The Maori Way", I have heard it called.)

Hi KALL, longtime howz it been thought this might wake you up abit,
WoW,
What caught my attention and led to me posting this thread is most of the threads i read concerned Maori this, Maori that, racism and racist so i thought i would look it up to see what it means
Yes, Maori are and were succeptible to disease, in the early 1800's, and this was recorded by Caucasians, typhoid fever, diptheria, tuberculosis were bought to N.Z by Caucasians, killing not just a few hand full of Maori but thousands, in the Lake Taupo District alone1500-2500 died because of these diseases, i call this introduced, now we have obesity, heart disease, this i call is the modern world.
Free Land, thats a bit extreme, as i say its been recorded by Caucasians that land was stolen by the Government of 1800's so they can keep it for themselves, if you want proof read, books written by Elsden Best, Then go to Wellington and read the House of Representatives Journals now these are pretty old, other good readings are old church books/records. Then there were some greedy Maori to who ripped off their own families.
Free schooling, wow i wish, i have to pay of my student loan just like everyone else, my scholarships come from monies off land that i have interest in because there are thousands off owners, the rates are put into a fund for this sort of thing as well as looking after our old people.
As for the Kahui Twins the Police should apprehend the bloody lot of them, if they were my grandchildren there is no way i would protect whoever,

I find it amusing that it's often Maori (and I'm talking some not all here) who go on about how they're getting a raw deal and then spout that the NZ Police are rascist because they've brought in new tazer guns which will be used mostly on maori.

Perhaps the Maori should think about committing less crime.

If it's something against Maori the country is being rascist, however if the Maori are getting something then it's deserved because they're the "people of the land".

pfffffffttttttt

My Great great grandfather came over to NZ in 1840, he worked hard and bought his piece of land fairly and squarely and so I consider myself full blooded Kiwi. Yet when growing up in a small Northland town I was often beaten up by the maori kids coz I was white so I have no time for Maori who go on about how rascist everyone else is coz they're just as bad.

Yup, me too.

Sorry Busyness. I do think there are some decent people out there and I think there are some real mong%(@s out there too.
Unfortunatley time and again I see nothing but Maori pandering up to the media when they've done something awful... like that kid who killed the boy in the back of the police van last week.

I get upset when I have my family visiting from a small Northland town for the weekend and wake up in the morning to find some person broke into every single vehicle they could find on my street.
The thing that upsets me most is they CAME ONTO MY PROPERTY and STOLE MY BELONGINGS and DESTROYED MY PROPERTY all for a JOKE!!!!
We have since found out this person broke into about 15 vehicles that night and went to the next street where he stole a car.

The idiot then couldn't keep his blabby big mouth shut and has been skiting to all his 'bros' about all the stuff he got.
Funny then, to find out he's Maori.
And that we'll never get our belongings back. And he'll never get caught.
At least not by the cops.

Hah.

Couldn't agree more with you there, Busyness....

I do know there are decent people out there, regardless of race - it's just the majority are making it all go to hell for the nice people.

Wink Re: Do you know what RACISM means?

looking at this topic brings up some memories when i was in school. racism in the class room. i had an english teacher that hated me because i had disabilities and i got permission from the principal to take all my finals a week earlier due to the fact that i was going to a special camp. she hated that she had to make the final up earlier then she usually had to. i know i scored higher and had better grades but yet she game me a d- for my final grade. i could prove my theory to be right when the next year in english i got a b in midterms and a b for my final grade. same as the next year. and my last year i got an a. she was just pissed that she had a special ed student in her class. even students treated me like i had a disease becaquse of my disabilities. RACISM

My great grandfather has all the documentation from when the land was bought off the maori. They were not ripped off. Maori live all around the area where my family still live and there's no issue with how/when our land was purchased. Our family helped the maori in the area with building houses etc and since my great grandfather was a photographer he captured a lot of these moments. The photos are amazing.

Oh and Jeni ... Racism has nothing to do with disabilities .... what you're experiencing isn't racism. Racism is to do with what Race you are; ie English, Maori, Irish etc.

The subject of RACISM is nothing new to the South African.

We have a vast and deep history when it comes to RACISM.

Having been the fathers of APARTHEID during the 1960s the Afrikaner nation was at the forefront of racism, so it was really a question of who was better? The Afrikaner/Englishman or the Black Man?

I'm not very opinioninated about the whole thing though. I just feel that we're all people, and depending on our will to excell in life, I judge you based on that.

In other words, if you want to make something out of your life, whether you're black, white, pink, purple or blue, I will still respect you irrigardless.
