Hi friends,

For would be migrants like as, it would be very helpful
if you can give me an idea on how much a couple without
children would spend on monthly expenses, i.e., rentals,
food items, utilities (gas, electricity, phone), recreation, fares
etc.

I would welcome any information.

This site may be a bit out of date now but if you go to British Expats New Zealand Forum it gives loads of info on the cost of living and all sorts of other info, hope this helps, Yorkie

Depends where you live and what you like to do.

We live in central Auckland ... monthly bills are about:
Rent - $385.
Power - $100 (more in winter, less in summer)
Phone - $60 (includes internet connection)
Sky TV - $70 (sky digital)
Food - $700

I live two bus stages from the city so it costs $3.00 each way, or $6.00 per day to get to/from work. I tend to walk home though so only costs me $3.00 per day.
