How do you feel about the new classifications in the census as it relates to ethnic makeup? Do you really think "New Zealander" is an actual ethnic classification?

I would prefer to be called a New Zealander than a Pakeha.

If 'White New Zealander of Italian descent way back in the day' was an option, I would choose that.

Most definately "New Zealander" will be one I'll tick.

I doubt that there are any true native races left untouched.

And how do you choose which one to go with.

Perhaps they should have "westie" in there.

They only just picked up my census form lastnight. I called the 0800 number 4 days after not having someone pick it up. Waited, nothing, finally an old lady turned up lastnight. She looked all frail and delicate. I didn't have the heart to get angry at her. I just gave her my form and sent her on her merry way.

Pakeha is what the "European's" in New Zealand are called. Pronounced ... Puck e ha {hope that helps a little}
