What sort of lifestyle, job opportunities, climate do you want and then we can suggest stuff. In the deep south the climat can be like Scotland, or through the middle like France and in the North like Italy. Auckland has jobs but also crowds. South Island is prettier but cooler in winter.

Hi there,
it was with some surprise that we read that you're off to the London Expo in Earls Court as well at the end of March. We are currently in NZ and staying in Napier but sadly have to fly back to the UK on the 21st, so next stop after that is the Expo. It's currently our plan to move out to NZ as soon as humanly possible, so which ever way works the best is what we intend to do and currently have two options open to use, either the skilled migrants entry via the points system or on the Entrenpeneurs (however it's spelt) entry system, as we have just seen a Backpackers business to buy.
Anyway, we hope that your own plans go well for you and you never know, we might even pass each other at the Expo.

Mark and Jeanett :-)

Dear Mark and Jeanett, You can make a heap of money if the business you buy is in the right region, but not if it's in a back water. There are hotels, motels and Backpackers to buy on the internet practically anywhere so why not identify roughly the area and ask for some feedback ?

Kia Ora,
thanks for the reply about us buying a backpackers, we actually put in an offer yesterday on the Travellers Lodge in Hastings, so having done a good bit of market research and checked out all the facts and figures, we decided to go for it and see how it goes. We always wanted to settle in Hawkes Bay, so Hastings is ideally right in the very middle, although we do like Napier a LOT.
To anyone at all, I would highly recommend NZ as a place to be, even just for a long visit if you're not up for emmigrating, with nice people, great weather and so much space you could swing no-end of cats, what more could you ask for after living in the UK in the cold, wet, snow, ice and above all else, so many people acting like trapped rats and a government always telling you what you CAN'T do, rather than letting you get on with life with a smile on your face. I would also recommend to all Kiwi's, go and check out the UK for a while, then you'll appreciate what NZ actually does give you and just how lucky you are to have lived here at all :-)
In closing.............. to anyone who happens to be at the Expo in London at the end of March, keep an eye open for us and say 'hello' if we pass, as it's always good to meet new people and to widen your network.

Mark and Jeanett

Hastings is a nice town. It had a reputation about ten years ago for it's crime, but more like petty theft than anything else. Nice wineries nearby at Havelock North. The main patronage will be for fruit picking and that is mainly apples from April-May. Many backpackers in NZ score some work under the table by fruit picking. They are the clientelle you will mostr likely attract. As you say Napier up the road is the big attraction or wineries in Havelock North.

I had a girlfriend a couple of years ago who ran an 11 bed motel with her ex and they made around NZ$650k per year.
