Kia Ora!!

Me and my brother are planing to travel to new zealand december/january 09/10 ...

The plan is at the moment:

2 weeks southern island, 2 weeks northern island...
and on the northern island we are thinking about Auckland as basecity.

on the southern one we do not realy know, at this time, witch city would be the best choice for our startingbase,because the southern island seems to be much more expensive then the northern one ...
we are also thinking about travelling via campmobile on the southern island.
good idea or not??

we are non-ritch people, so we have to save a lot of money the whole year long, so we are thankful for every information we can receive from insiders!!!

there is a train that goes through the north islnd which is lovely, through the gorge etc. allows you to see much of NZ without paying much. ask about the gorge train ride, someone in tourism will surely be able to help you out. also, if you are interested in nightlife while over here, i can give you a hand when you're in auckland
