Hey guys. I was just wondering if someone could tell me a little about your education system. Like in Kenya we have 8 yrs of primary school, then 4 high school and then on to college. Kids start at 5 yrs old. Some go to nursery b4 but it's not mandatory so long as the kid passes the entry exam for the primary. What about NZ
Also, for one to be a high school teacher in Kenya, you need to go to a four year college for a degree. Related to education or the subjects. Then the govt posts you to a school within about one year. Unless you want to work in a private high school in which case you apply to one. To teach in a college, one needs to do a masters degree, or have a considerable ammount of experience. But local colleges accept degree holding teachers.
Does anyone know what certificate a non-NZ teacher needs to take and if they have to look for a job or the govt employs all trained teachers? Is it diferent if a someone trains in NZ?

Primary school here is for 6 years, then intermedite for 2 years and then high school/college for 4 or 5 years then university. To become a teacher here normally it is a 3 year degree at University and then you have to find your own job. If you already have a teaching degree it may be possible to do a registration course here...the best place to check is Auckland College of Education website.
