So I've been off work for a couple of days - Thursday/Friday - at Health and Safety training. YAY, two days off work. Well what a total waste of time.
The facilitator (a daft woman) advised us that she had a hearing problem and was waiting for her hearing aid to turn up from Australia so we all had to talk loudly when asking her anything - it actually turned out quite good coz we could make quiet snide remarks about her and she couldn't hear us - but she mispronounced things as well which drives me nuts!!!!! Like "a accident" and "a incident". JUST SO WRONG.
Anyway ... so the way she chose to train us. Gave us manuals, then read verbatim (each time she would say "I don't want to sound like a parrot" and would then proceed to read "parrot-like" from the manual) then at the end of that particular chapter we would get given a test to do - closed book. It really did feel like I was back at Primary School. We had to get 80% to get out Safety Contact certificate.
We all agree that if anyone fails then it would be a reflection on her crap training methods than on us.
We were all perfectly honest in our feedback and hopefully she'll never facilitate another training session again.
On a positive note, we had brilliant food for those 2 days
