I'm all exuberant over the DVR I built over the weekend.

I pretty much pooled the last round of spare parts to come through the flat and built a second machine from them. Video out + Media Portal = Simpsons all night, every night for the last week. But now that I've run out of things to watch I ordered a TV tuner.

The helpful guys at my favourite store were nice enough to point out the card that can software-decode sky. Piracy, socialism - it's all the same.

Now to find out if a 550Mhz Athlon can encode at a reasonable speed and quality. Anyone have any idea what to expect?
