| So I am looking around for a source of Television listings in order to stick them on NZB somewhere, and I notice that this major corporate has google adsense ads on their homepage (and probably others). Don't they make enough profit as it is? | ||||

| Are you joking? They're run by an ex-talkshow host. Admittedly Ralston looked like he'd taken a large dose of dioxins long before backwater Europe made it fashionable, but image-sense and business-sense just aren't the same thing. Last edited by nih; 01-Feb-2005 at 11:17 PM. | ||||

| Welll, if you think about it, ad's are the way they make their money. And so why not extend it to their website, I must admit so many places have ad's now I hardly even notice them. Which defeats the purpose I know. | ||||

| "ads". No apostrophe. Remember the simple rule: the apostrophe indicates single ownership (the girl's cat) group ownership (the girls' cats) and word replacement (the girl is tall, the girl's tall). The exception of course is "it's". It has an apostrophe with replacement (it is a cat, it's a cat) but not ownership (when referring to the cat's drink, you will only ever say "its drink", never "it's drink"). You may think this error is minor and inconsequential, but if you apply gentle and steady improvement to your grammar, reading your posts will be less painful. Please not that anybody who disagrees with me is poorly educated and wrong. ![]() Last edited by nih; 02-Feb-2005 at 06:30 AM. | ||||

| *reads post, tears welling up in his eyes* I...think I love you man. The old "apostrophes are not to be used to denote plurality, otherwise the following sentence would not look retarded: The girl's took their shoe's and sock's off before entering any room's or playing with their toy's." Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaanyway....for them to be publishing google ads on their site just seems a little greedy to me. We have them here but lets face it, NZB isn't exactly a massive cash cow. | ||||

| "After all" is two words. For the sake of one sentence, re-read what you just said. You could also avoid ending sentences with an elipsis (three periods) - if you must, go for four as a sentence terminator as opposed to the linking three. Or better yet, learn their use and don't use them at all outside of comics and fictional colloquialism. Don't worry Penny, there will come a day (withholding its immense distance) where you look upon forum posters and other ill-bred ilk and think to yourself that they'd find it so easy, and would rise in so many of our (albiet shallow, perhaps even darwinian) perceptions of their writing, get past the ego and instead work on the self. Or at least, that small aspect of it that constructs meaningful communication. I bet you didn't know that most of your interpretation of communication with the outside world is assumed through past experience: you only share a tiny sliver of situational parity with your second party. There's only one thing that overrides experience - active analysis and persistant thought. I hereby propose that you don't think much at all when it comes to communication, and as a dear friend I hate to see you sploshing about the in the shallows whilst the rest of us are at sea. | ||||

| well dear friend maybe I will help you out just that little bit, and I'll just shut up, have a nice life. | ||||

Sharp rhetoric should be taken as less personal and more wit for the onlooking masses, of which as always I will point out are seething and unwashed. Some traditions just can't be broken. The same runs true for forum demagoguery. Don't be my fulcrum on the seesaw of verbality by playing the poor-me card, jump on the other end and become a mechanical opposite - the anathema of all that is good about having a personal statistic labelled "weapons mastery in enunciation". You could be the orc to my night-elf. Quote:
The only banner ads I've ever followed have been game related, and only then on a site I trust to select and advertise only games they like. | ||||
