This could be my last resort!

I'm trying to let someone view a website I am developing, just so they can see how it is progressing, but they can't get into it.

When I was just using a dialup, I just substituted the "localhost" (or 127.0.0.1) for my IP address and all was sweet.

But now if I do that, they (and I if I try it) get an error page:

"Error 501/505 - Not implemented or not supported
Internet Explorer"

I logged into my router, followed what I thought were the instructions for setting up a Virtual Server to enable outside Access, but still nothing works

The Router I am using is a DSE XH1149, anyone know of these routers, or know how to overcome my problem?

Cheers

Thanks Styx,

I have tried all the things in the manual and it STILL doesn't work!

Manually configured my IP address on the machine, setup the Router to point to that IP address ...

Ah well, may have to resort to uploading to my website, will mean going back to ASP though from ASP.net.

Hey, tell that lovely lady of yours to stop being a snob too :P

I don't know an awful lot about this stuff, but is it something to do with the fact you don't get a static IP address??

I know my flatmate has set ours up recently with the view to host websites. And he downloaded this program called dynamic dns or something, which I am not sure exactly what it does but it does something to point it to the right place.

I know that wasn't allot of help! but I only understood snippets of what he was saying.

As penny says dyndns is ok...some sites will do it, but it's usually a matter of beating your router into sumbmission with a large mallet.

Perhaps Dick Smith's helpdesk would be able to shed some light on the problem?
