Default Limewire HOGGING bandwidth

I have installed limewire twice, and both times I removed it because even disconnected and with nothing in the shared files folder, it just ripped through my bandwidth.

Is that normal? I have never had thos probs with KazaaLite or WinMX

i have limewire and use to swear by it as i could never get winmx to work. but lately the damn thing won't connect and the last time it did i left the bloody thing on all nite powering over my 3GB limit.

still haven't paid the bill... *gulp*

did you see xtra is putting us all on new plans whether we want them or not. we have unlimited gigs but if we go over whatever plan we're paying for our connection speeds are reduced. spose it'll be ok though....

Its jetstream putting everyone on new plans regardless of your ISP. I thought it was OK for the day - to - day people as that woudl suit them best, but I thought that if you are someone who really knows and cares about the speed, and were happy to pay if you went over, then it will suck becuase you loose the speed.

Then I realised that that is what Wired COuntry do to (part of the company I work for) and noone seems to mind. I think we hardly ever go over out limit.

as for Limewire its on the Mac at home, I haven't used it, but my flatmate often does at the same time as I am using the other computer and I can't say it slows it down or anything.

I downloaded a 120mb film which I immediately removed from my shared files folder (empty), and ended up with over 400mb uploads and nearly 600mb downloads - 1 gig in 1 day is pretty extreme.

I like the new changes to jetstream, I find I usually use just under the 3 gig, and for me I will do all my downloading early in the month. For day to day surfing the increased speed of jetstream is nice but not essential. For me (home business) what I need is to be online all the time and still able to use my phone.
