We have had several members advise us that a few people are using NZDating to promote NZBoards.com which I understand to be a competing freindship and messageboard service.

We will be taking action against those using NZDating to provide advertising for this service.

Well, given that nzboards is purely a community site based around messageboards, and nzdating is a friendship and dating site where the messageboards are a small part...not even worth mentioning on radio interviews, I can't see there being any common sphere in which to compete.

Those people who have chosen to inform others of this other site have done so because it is a place where abuse and general nasty behaviour are not tolerated. NZD messageboards, though being 'a small part of the whole thing' have pretty much degenerated into kindergarten name-calling and people with vendettas all over the place stirring trouble.

This situation caused many people to look for something that isn't quite so paradoxically a Nazi state full of troublemakers.

Riiight.

In the month I took off "the other place", I created and refined this other site, and told my friends about it over msn and in person.

They then made the choice to create an account, as they saw it as a place where they could chat online without the fear of morons harassing them, or complete nazis running the place with bannings occuring for no apparent reason.

This was not done using any part of "the other place".

If someone sees me mention that "the other place" lacks a certain feature, or that other sites have them, and they then contact me to ask me what I meant, I see no reason why I should not tell them about NZB, even if they are part of your precious member base.

If other people who have a presence on NZB tell *their* friends about it using "the other place", then that's up to them, and is in no way instigated by myself.

Also, I think you will find 'commercial advertising' involves money/paid services. NZB involves none of this.

I find your threats of 'further action' laughable. What are you going to do? Ban me? Yeah, that would work reeaaaly well for you.

Have your little spies enjoyed their stay on NZB? Found anything useful?

You need to keep the two separate. As I said on a earlier thread at some point in time, the appeal of this place is that it ISNT the other place.

I still hold judgement on the nazi ops banning for no apparent reason though. *winks*

For example, I could get people to come to this site but they have had nothing to do with the other site at all so they'd view these threads and wonder wtf we were all on about. I think it's unfair to the newbies that may (or may not) come over and I think you should be offering something refreshing and new.

If we want to have a run in with a webby, I'll do what Col did and tell him to suck my dick then I won't have to worry about it anymore.

Until then, can we try for a messageboard site where we're not comparing to the other place or bitching about people that are on the other site? I for one find that insulting and cowardly. If you have something to say about someone, say it to them or don't say it at all.

Sorry for my rant. It's how I feel though.

I agree with you re: not bitching about 'people'...but I don't really see webby as people, more the personification of a Nazi-esque set of rules and regulations.

Plus...I don't want people to get in trouble for breaking their rules.
