| I've been feeling pretty awful the past couple of days and have worked out that it's due to a pretty bad dose of hayfever. I'm guessing that the walk to/from work isn't helping. I went onto the Allergy Website and this is what they say: DO’S AND DON’TS DO Keep windows closed at night; use air conditioning, which cleans, cools, and dries the air. yeah right ... how many people have airconditioning? Minimise early morning activity when pollen is most usually emitted (between 5.00 a.m. and 10.00 a.m.). great, well I don't think they'd appreciate me turning up to work at 11.00am somehow. Keep your car windows closed when you travel by car. Use your car air-conditioning on ‘re-circulated air’ rather than bringing in air from outside. Stay indoors when the pollen count or humidity is high and on windy days when dust and pollen are whipped about. Right, okay, well I live in Auckland so that would mean I can't EVER go out. Take a holiday during the height of the pollen season to a place more pollen-free (such as the beach). Stay away from high pollen areas such as farms and orchards. Hmm, both my Mum and Kall's Dad live on farms so I'm a bit screwed there. Wear glasses outdoors to protect your eyes. Have your lawns mowed frequently to avoid flowering. Wear a mask if it is absolutely necessary for you to do the mowing. Select garden plants which are low pollen producers (usually native species). Have fallen leaves and garden debris removed. Take the medications prescribed by your allergist. DON’T Mow lawns or be around freshly cut grass; mowing stirs up pollens and moulds. Hang sheets or clothing outside to dry, as pollens and moulds may collect in these items. | ||||

| I'm thinking the appropriate course of action will be to take 1 anti-histamine tablet a day until the pollen season is over... | ||||

| Anti-histamine knocks me out, so lately I've been using Azep Nasal Spray. It can make you feel a little bit light-headed and vaguely stoned - which can be either good or bad - but not so much drowsy. And it works friggen quickly. You can feel your nose cooling and the swelling going down within seconds. Like all these medications, you're better off using it before you leave home, before the symptoms set in. | ||||

| I took some Claramax about 2 hours ago and still feel like shite. I could feel my eyes clearing but now they seem to be silting up again. | ||||
| ||||
| well theres only one thing for it... you will not be able to work for 6 months, becuase the timeing doesn't work with your polleen thingi... get a doctors certificate ![]() | ||||

| I hate Hayfever, I have had it bad for the past two days and on top of that bloody cramps so hubby is staying outside and well away from me. | ||||
| ||||
| I bought some Claramax yesterday but am still suffering from a mild headache so am wondering if I can take painkillers with it ... am waiting to hear back from my pharmacist as to whether I can or not. Someone at work was saying that their friend went into the pharmacy to get some hayfever stuff and the pharmacist told her that it was the 100th box of Claratyne (or whatever) he'd sold that day! I didn't get hayfever when I was on my Mum's farm or when I was on Kall's Dad's farm but back in Auckland I have it BAD. I'm wondering whether it's pollen mixed with pollution that's making the big difference. | ||||
