I've been invited to a garden party at Buckingham Palace in honor of the 250th anniversary of the RSA (Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts).

It's a terribly formal affair as is the dress code.

That means a suit.

As many of you know, I'm not a suit kind of person.


At this point I'm just a little excited but also rather more nervous, and starting to dread the whole thing.

Not for a garden party.

Gentlemen wear morning dress, lounge suits or uniform; ladies wear afternoon dress (usually with hats). National dress can also be worn.

National dress would be the traditional costume worn by members of other nationalities.

I get to go because I am the guest of an invited member of the RSA.

I don't think guests can bring guests. Sorry. :sad:

I was reading that link on the garden parties... I hope you like tea, becuase that is 3.3 cups of tea you will be drinking... (27000 cups of tea vs 8000 attendees)

Do you have to sing the national anthem when they play it.

To meet every person there the queen would have to meet 6 people per minute, so whats the chances of meeting her?

Make sure you take a photo of her and post it up on nzb. A suit at a Garden Party ... hmmmm ... I'd much prefer shorts & tshirt.
