Default Farenheit 9/11

Will it be showing in NZ?

Lots of controversy in the US.

Comments?

I think it is going to be shown as part of some film festival coming up.

Bowling for columbine is on video and DVD here so I assume this will too.

Hi Penny

I cannot understand why people have to find Roger so unacceptable.

All he is doing is saying, "hey, look at the stupidity. is this what you meant to do when you began this folly"

Sorry Penny, I was thinking of the first one Roger and Me.

I can picture the guy in my mind but cannot think of his name. Oh, yes, Michael Moore.

Sorry

I think Michael moore is clever. As many arguments as he brings up for his cause, there are as many showing you why they aren't true. So you have to try and think for yourself and not just believe on vs the other.

But he is clever, beucase he will kow something and will just elude towards it without acutally saying what it is and get the media to do the whole "breaking the story" and get in trouble over it, and when he is questioned about it just says "i could have meant .... "

He does that very well.

The gun thing is a good point. Banks giving out guns? "Open a new account, get a free gun"

We have a group in the US called the NRA (National Rifle Association). The group maintains that it supports the 2nd ammendment of the constitution item - the right to bear arms.

One of their point is that people should not be limited to "small arms" (pistols, rifles, shotguns) but should be allowed to have unregistered 50 caliber rifles.

http://www.ghostrecon.net/html/arms_barrett98.htm

You can buy these at gun shows.

And where do they turn up? Not in the hands of Mr MacGregor protecting his cabbage patch. Rather some gang banger shooting cops.

Its a shame that they let everyone have guns that they want, and to use them. I think it just sends a message to all the young people "to solve your differences use violence" but then again, I think that message is given by your government and their wars.

I don't really know if guns are required etc, becuase from what I understand the environment/culture in NZ doesn't compare at all to that of the US. I know if I was put in the situation of having to use a gun, I would be worse off than not having one. They make me uncomfortable.

I watched Bowling for Columbine. It started out really interesting but to be honest I got a bit bored toward the end and kinda lost concentration on it.

Not sure why .... maybe it was just too long or something.

I got it out recently, but my flatmate watched it without me, and I was doing other stuff. He was going on about it, and I told him to go onto the net and read what some people have been saying that discredits what Michael Moore has said, then he has both views and can make a decision about what to believe.

I thought that Disney brought the sole rights to it, so that it wont be shown??

I heard a snippet of it on the news or radio, so I dont know if it was true or not.

I have not read the reviews or the comments by "the informed".

Part of the Columbine shootings was about bullies. And the way they are treated. If you are a bully and captain of the football team, excuses are made. Often.

If you dress different or wear your hair long. Or never go for a frosty drink with the IN croud. or are fat. or skinny. or ......

The victims decided to stop the shit and this was the method available and visable to them.

The movie points to the gun crazed stupidity of parts of our society.

But you are right. I am willing to be told I am stupid about something and have it shown to me. But I reject the constant maneuvering for another angle at my fragile ego. I can work those out.

Others are probably sensitive in the same way. Or similar ways. Or.

Rose is reading Odd Girl Speaks Out. It is about bullies. My last three years in High School were at a military (Army) school in Germany. We all had access to guns (if we really stopped and thought about it). Hell, we had access to tanks. But our training was vastly different from ........ maybe not so different.

I will have to sit down and watch the movie, again.

Peace

ed

The bullying you describe is everywhere in life and not just in schools. I was disapointed to see as I grew older that it didn't change, the backstabbing etc never changed. People need to be trained to deal with it. If someone is bullying it is mostl likely becuase they are being bullied by someone else. A bad bad circle.

We had an incident of bullying here recently that was horrible. Here is a link to one story on it, it wasn't very nice what happened.

I heard something about that and Disney owns the company that owns ABC and they will not be showing it.

There is a boycott of theaters that do show it being lead by a republican spin meister. That is truely how he makes his money.

But somehow it is going into some theaters.

Yep bullying goes on in the work place too.

I once worked for a place as a creditors clerk and the receptionist/secretary was my immediate boss, and she was a bitch she started on my english, then my hair, my make up, the way I dressed, the way I spoke, even if I was talking about my mum and I said the words "MY mum" she tole me I was selfish as its not just MY mum as I have two sisters and I should refer to her as OUR mum.

Then she would have a go at me in front of other staff members and even in front of a sales rep she called me stupid. It got to the stage that I used to be physically ill before going to work. At least 3 days out of the 5 I worked she had me in tears.

The cleaning lady used to call her Her Royal Highness

I do not want this to be considered a blanket statement.

I think that women have better powers of observation and are better negotiators.

When we move from a single income family to a two income family, much is lost.

Just my thought.
